Xeno, I don't get the Alien Fiction reference. That seems like a quote from The Tick. I failed my hint taking roll.
The other characters seem like fun. The cyclops and the half-demon are very much in keeping with the settings.

Huh, I looked up which guy would have been pope in 1000 AD. 5he guy was Sylvester II, a right interesting fellow. He reintrodiced a lot of forgotten science and technology to Europe from the Middle East and Asia. This lead to legends in his own time of Sylvester being a magician. There is a demoness, a dice game with the devil, and a prophetic bronze head involved. He was also reportedly paranoid about the change the millennium.

Well I don't even get the alien fiction thing at all, monster catching pet human fights? I also thought Darkwing duck was a daffy duck alter ego like Duck Dogers in the 25 and 1/5 century.

D'oh! Of course that was DW; I was way off. Darkwing Duck was a surprisingly entertaining show. The Twin Peaks parody episode was epic, and actually made more sense than the original Twin Peaks. Both me and my girlfriend remember this cartoon fondly though we are four years apart. The DW comic was a huge surprise hit in the 90s and one of very few comic books during that time which was actually written for kids.
So Xenocrates wants to play a masked duck-alien with stealth powers and a gas attack. That's not only feasible, it's awesome.

The Weird West
This submission comes from the brilliant and untwisted Rob a.k.a. TheMetal1 from the Dragon's Landing Inn.
The setting is Tex-Mex border around 1845. Mexican Troops and Texas Troops are stationed nearby with on-going border skirmishes. Both Commanders Colonel Verde Juareista with the 1st (El Primero) Battalion de Dragoons (Heavy Calvary) (Motto: Primero!) and Colonel Daniel Smith with the 3rd Battalion, 10th Calvary (Light Calvary) (Motto: Hold the Line!) are strong commanders and itching for a war. There are five small towns (two mexican and three texan) but hold no real loyalty to either mexico or texas. There are two forts as well (one mexican and one texan) heavily armed with artillery, and well supplied. The area itself is fertile, full of trees, farms, and large hills along the Rio Grande and one heavily guarded bridge... that is there was one bridge now there is none. It has been literally ripped apart along with both Mexican and Texan soldiers torn apart, strewn around and half eaten. This is due to the arrival a troll, rising up from an underground cavern, along with other beasties. This cavern was unearthed by mining prospectors from Massachusetts whose fate remains unknown and lies near the river settled in one of the hills at the bottom of the mine. The Trolls are claiming the area, while fantasical beasties are unleashed upon the rest of the area. Native Americans in area claim it is the sign of the end, and say their magic is working against the beasts, along with their copper weapons. The villages and outlying farms are under siege and both armies blame each other for violent raids. It is in this setting that the Characters arrive...
Characters are wide open to your interpreation - other than one of the Beasties you can play pretty much anyone you can think of from 1845, magic works - wierdly, as do prayers and of course so does cold steal and hot lead.

Heavy Metal Heroes
This submission comes from the obviously twisted mind of Iconoclast_ from the Dragon's Landing Inn.
In 1963, the US government discovered that a dangerous alien parasite from another dimension was slowly invading the earth and infecting the population, draining them of life and intellect. Various attempts to combat these ethereal menaces proved fruitless, and by the 1970s, they had infected a large percentage of the population, resulting in what was dubbed "the hippie menace" by government officials. Thankfully, a weapon against the aliens was discovered quite by accident, Heavy Metal Music. Secretly, the government funded various rock bands, supporting the development of new forms of anti-alien rock music, like Punk, Industrial, and Grunge. By the 1980s, the alien menace had been pushed back, but sadly, that was not the end of the story. In the early 90s, a group of music executives, possibly infected by the alien parasites, began to experiment with and promote "boy bands", a tragic new form of music that attracted the aliens and caused them to return to earth. The popularity of "reality TV" has shown the government that the aliens have returned, and in force. Now, the time has come for the federal government to again start promoting Heavy Metal music bands, to help chase away the deadly alien invaders and protect the earth from an alien invasion. Now, the secretive Supernatural Affairs Bureau must again find and support music bands that play anti-alien music, and somehow help them chase off the ethereal parasites that seek to destroy humanity.
Project Chupa Rules.
Stats. Physique, to keep playing beyond mere exhaustion, dance, or fight off rabid fans. Discipline, to keep practicing your music and resist alien possession. Brains, to keep your checkbook balanced, and read the contract your agent hands you. Essence, that piece of your soul you put into your music.
Extra Stat. Possession. How strongly infected you are with the alien parasite. Starts at 0 and goes higher when you listen to boy bands or dirty hippie music.

Weird West: A Native American warrior who believes his power is derived from an animal spirit he communes with via totem.
Heavy Metal: LOL Love this one. I'd play an old has-been of an 80's rock band that is back to battle the menace. Happy to be back in the game, he goes the distance, but has lot of health problems due to his peak rock star days.

Say...shouldn't this topic be in the General section rather than the 'exclusively' Palladium section?

The original topic was settings on Rifts Earth. Like many topics that Xeno, Z, and D get involved in however, it has gone from a discussion of apples to one of oranges. Still along the same line as the original topic, but mostly because it involves a bunch of fruits.

Re: The Weird West
The character I chose was the culture hero, Pecos Bill. My version of Bill would have less super-powers like riding tornadoes and more emphasis on the myth's role as a scholar and inventor. Pecos Bill taught cowboys how to ranch cattle, he invented the six-shooter and cowboy movie, and he has come to the border in order to capture and study one of these strange creatures.
Re: Heavy Metal Heroes
My character is a line rich kid with a high Soul Attribute. He was a classically trained pianist. When he lost his sight (maybe due to an alien plot or a battle with the ee-tees), he turned to heavy metal and keyboard as outlets for his frustrations. He's a good song writer, but being blind, he never understood the importance of stage makeup and leather costumes for a good show. He needs to join a band.

Weird West: A German preacher who may just end up being town martial if the bible in his coat can't save them then the short barreled .44 probably can. Fire and brimstone to rally those on both side against the evil that will take the land.
Heavy Metal Heroes: Having worked with musicians before (my sister is an amateur musician http://www.bethminer.com) I have to say I would never want to play one but on the other hand the handler who makes sure they can keep going appeals to me. Some one smart enough to work around their problems yet in good enough shape to maybe deal with minor security threats and to drive the van as needed. The handler from metalocolips comes to mind as a semi-archetype but my guy would play the bag pipes and wear a kilt with his suit jacket.

Beautiful website too; I listened to the Lucky Star clip. Beth has an incredible voice, but that song is a lullaby. It nearly put me to sleep. NSFW!
